History & Background
In December 2018, at the age of 23, the Founder and Director, Mr Theodore Toa Keru started as a freelancer under the name LoneWolf Computer Repairs at Mt. Hagen, Western Highlands Province whilst still an undergraduate student studying Mathematics & Computing Science at the Divine Word University (DWU), Papua New Guinea (PNG). He had identified an increasing demand for the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Education, Business, Health, Mining, Agriculture, Tourism, Telecommunications, Government departments, NGOs, SMEs, and others including the daily communications and information sharing of individuals.
Technological tools and services such as laptops, desktops, mobile phones, telephones, the internet, websites, social media, and emails are critical when trying to overcome the imperfections of the twenty first century. Hence, he wanted to provide information technological services and started by selling refurbished computers and providing computer hardware repairs and software maintenance services.
With his experience gained from his start-up in 2018, Mr Keru decided to venture into internet connectivity/networking and setting up of computer laboratories in 2021. In January 2021, Mr. Keru managed to set up a fully-kited and functional computer lab for Waigani Christian Colleague in Port Moresby and the project was the most significant and a high achievement of his freelancing services. From there his services got noticed and attracted other potential clients.
Mr. Keru holds a Bachelor degree in Mathematics and Computing Science and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning from DWU. He also attained Cisco Networking Certificates (CCNA1-4) during the cause of his studies. He is a certified system administrator for the Moodle e-Learning Management System (LMS) and holds two certificates in Moodle Site and Server Administration from Human Resource Development New Zealand (HRDNZ), an official Moodle Partner with more than three years of experience administering the LMS at one of the top performing and technological advanced university in PNG, DWU. He is currently doing his Masters of Information & Communication Technology at the Western Sydney University, Australia and planning to build his company both locally and internationally.
In early 2022, Mr. Keru officially registered his business name with the Papua New Guinea (PNG) Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) as a sole trader and also renamed his business name from LoneWolf Repairs to Bobatom Tech and Consultancy. He is determined and wishes to use his professional experiences and his exposer to the outside world to build a team of like-minded individuals to be the best, locally owned Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Company providing quality, modern-standard ICT services and competency education to Papua New Guineans.
